What do I need to bring? We recommend a hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, deck shoes or bare feet. You may bring along your favorite beverages as well as beer and wine. Snacks and lunch are also recommended, as good nutrition will keep you energized for a day of catching big fish. We have plenty of ice and space to store beverages and food, as well as your catch! Do not forget your camera and a positive attitude because most days aboard Catch Me If You Can Fishing Charters are experiences to cherish and remember for the rest of your life.
We supply the fishing licenses, tackle, bait and ice.
What if I have to cancel? All trips are "weather permitting." The captain will not jeopardize your safety or comfort! If we cancel because of weather, your deposit will be refunded or we'll try to reschedule you another time.
If you cancel within 14 days of the trip, you will lose your deposit unless we are able to find another charter for that day. Always call the captain if you have any scheduling concerns. He'll do everything he can to accommodate your needs.
What about the fish? Can we keep them? There is no better meal than fresh fish that was swimming a couple of hours ago. Many of the local restaurants will cook your catch for you.
For the most part, you caught them. We’ll clean them. You can keep them! If you catch more than you need, your crew would be happy to keep your excess fish.
All billfish are released, though you will have the opportunity to get some great photos to remind you of the fish you released. Some fish are off limit during certain times of the year and must be released. There are size and quantity limits on a variety of species.
How long will we be out on the water?Fishing is often the best early in the morning. The recommended departure time is between seven and seven thirty. We can be flexible but keep in mind that the best fishing is in the morning and we stop on our way out to catch live bait. Half day charters are a bit more flexible with departure times agreed by the Captain and customer. Evening charters leave at dusk and return 5 hours later. The captain and crew will try to accommodate your needs as best we can!
What about the weather?Weather in the Keys differs greatly from the weather elsewhere on the weather map! Clouds rarely collect over the Keys as it does over the larger land masses. Rainstorms are usually brief and we can almost always find a way to avoid them out on the water. Wind can be another issue! The captainwill be in touch with you if your charter plans needed to be changed. Remember, the fishing can be great when the weather isn't! Check our weather links to see radar and weather maps.
If the weather is bad... your safety and comfort always come first! The captain will make sure of that.
